Crazy Bathing Bird
This is our crazy bathing Mooky machine. He just goes wild when he decides he’s going to take a bath in his water dish. Depending on my mood I may remove his dish just because I don’t feel like cleaning up the aftermath. Oh and he gets water everywhere… on the floor, on the shutters & completely soaks the newspapers on his perch. Yes, fun for him and work for me or at least that’s how I see it sometimes.
He looks soaked or somewhat soaked here because I gave him a shower and let him finish in his dish. By the way he hates going in the shower but he’s a good sport and tolerates it… although I may leave the shower with a couple of war wounds.

That last picture with his feathers everywhere is too funny!
I'm with you, love watching the bath, hate the aftermath (hey, it rhymes too). Gobi loves to make a circuit around the inside of his cage, then plunge into his water dish; then another and another. It's very noisy as all the bells on his toys jingle as he brushes past them.
Gizmo likes to be sprayed with a spray bottle. When she sees the bottle come out, she starts shaking her tail with joy!
Wow! What great photos :) I bet Mooky looked the dashing, bright young fella after he was all clean!
Jazzy has yet to fully agree with the merits of taking a shower frequently herself, though she highly recommends it to others. 'shower' is one of her favorite words. She did finally take a bath a couple of days ago; real showers don't appeal to her at all.
Oh, African Greys are especially messy birds aren't they!
I can't believe you were able to get those pictures! They are hilarious!!
Good thing you don't put like some uh..Jim Beam in his dish, huh? ;)
Gosh..you could probably spend hours waching him and his antics...Great pics... sandy
Thank you for sharing it so we don't get wet. This is definitely some craziness! Very pretty colors in those feathers, and when they're wild, they're better!
Oh that is too cute and funny too. My great aunt had a parrot. She used to spray him outside in his cage with the hose and he would scream like a woman. It was funny. I don't think it hurt him. He just didn't love it.
I was going to say-- he never gets that wet , just everthing else.
Lol... moonky took bath? I think it's real fast right?
haha.. ;)
Behave yourself Mooky !
oh dear ! hahaha, looks funny, Mooky is such an entertaining chap.
Hi Mooky,
Hi Sharon ! please give him a pat for me.
Wow! Mooky, you may be the only grey we've me that enjoys bathing!! Whew-hoo! Congrats on breaking the mould!
Those are great photos. I like the two action shots, with the red tail still somewhat in focus. And the last photo of the wet feathers is classic. My grey used to like to take a bath in the kitchen sink.
Think yourself lucky, my bird used to take great pleasure in using an unwatched cup of tea as a lovely warm bath!
Lol..really crazy bathing..but I would say its cute. Sharon , u have a nice blog and I really like the reddish orange picturesque view of the sky in the previous pic. Keep up the good work
Mooky's party look, cool!
Wow, I never knew birds liked to wash in water. We have 2 hens and they HATE water (except to drink of cours)... the merest hint of rain and they dash back to their pen.
Hens take "dirt baths" instead... they find (or create) a nice patch of clear ground, they have a particular fondness for potplants. Then they burrow in it, lying on their sides, very funny to wash, flicking dirt all through their feathers.
We've never managed to get suck brilliant action shots though as you have of Mooky, he's adorable!
